Silk Velvet ....aaahhhhhh!!!
We are always adding more silk velvet to our collection ...as it is one of the most fabulous and precious fabrics I have come upon. Completely hand-done ...and carefully crafted, silk velvet is never out of style, and that piece that brings a lovely luxe to your home or office. (Yes, I absolutely have these in my office)!!
Weaving these is all by hand, and not just a standard style of weaving. Done by master weavers in Uzbekistan (these women are famous for their fabrics), they weave in specialized rods in with the silk ...and as they get so far into the fabric, they stop and very carefully cut into the fabric causing the silk to pop up and create the velvet pile. Such an incredible art, I had to start using the fabric ...and we do everything we can with it ...from pillows, to totes, to little zippies for travel ...any way we can!! I can't get enough of the fabric myself ...and you'll discover you are the same once you get your first piece. Its just too beautiful to have one ..and of course, I'm overflowing with silk velvet pillows now ...how could I not be!!!
Luxe & timeless, one absolutely cannot go wrong with this incredibly beautiful silk velvet. Hand-woven (yes, hand-woven) silk …carefully & meticulously cut to create the unique velvet texture that makes this fabric so touchable.
I pair each silk velvet design with an additional silk ikat reverse side (also …hand-woven) for an added versatility keeping them in use year-round and for various applications. I tend to move all my pillows around …and since these are no “ordinary” pillows, they tend to find themselves the Queens & Kings of whatever room in which you decide they should reign. Enjoy!!
